Global Petroleum Research Institute
Description
GPRI was created to develop solutions to large scale E&P problems with a collaborative approach. It has an anti-trust exemption from the U.S. Department of Justice to allow such cooperation among super-majors and large independent producers. It has managed over $40M in research in critical issues such as deep-water, multilateral and completion technologies to longer-term interests in separation facilities, down-hole logging tools and advanced completion technologies. Current activities include the development of advanced technologies to reduce the environmental impact of onshore E&P and offshore exploration activity and the development of a marine vibrator seismic source.
