Hagler Institute for Advanced Study

Center Details

Description

The Hagler Institute for Advanced Study brings the world’s finest scholars to Texas A&M University for up to twelve months in residence to collaborate on state of the art and frontier research with our faculty and students. The Hagler Institute serves all disciplines at Texas A&M. Any faculty member in any college, including those in the Bush School of Government and Public Service, the Health Science Center, the A&M School of Law, the Galveston campus, and select institutes, can nominate an outstanding researcher. A revolving panel of nine distinguished professors evaluates the nominees. To be considered, at a minimum, the nominees must be of national academy stature. Approved nominees are offered a Faculty Fellowship in the Institute, and most arrange their schedules to accept. Once here some choose to join Texas A&M’s permanent faculty, but those who do not so choose provide a significant impact in accelerating our faculty and students and helping Texas A&M answer mankind’s most difficult questions. The endowment provided by Jon Hagler made the Institute a permanent fixture at Texas A&M, and additional endowments will accelerate the achievement of the Institute’s mission - to make Texas A&M University a world academic leader.
