Center for Epigenetics and Disease Prevention

Center Details

Description

The Center for Epigenetics and Disease Prevention focuses on understanding how epigenetic mechanisms influence human health and disease development. Researchers explore how lifestyle, nutrition, and environmental factors can shape gene expression without altering DNA sequences. With strengths in bioinformatics, molecular biology, preclinical models, and human translational science, the center investigates conditions ranging from cancer to pediatric and cardiovascular diseases. Located near the Texas Medical Center in Houston, the center accelerates the clinical application of discoveries related to DNA methylation, histone modifications, chromatin remodeling, and noncoding RNAs. Its specialized research cores provide advanced antibody development, expertise in rigor and reproducibility, and next generation sequencing capabilities to support innovative studies across disciplines.
