Center of Digital Humanities Research

Center Details

Description

The mission of the Center of Digital Humanities Research, sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts, is to foster multidisciplinary research and publications that employ computational methods in the study of literature, history, and culture. Our aim is to garner international recognition for Texas A&M University through development of significant digital humanities research projects, both the Center’s own signature projects and vibrant faculty projects. We strive to educate the Texas A&M community, other Texas universities, and academics and scholars worldwide through workshops, speakers, our “Programming 4 Humanists” courses, and our book series published by TAMU University Press, “Coding for Humanists.” Through internships, assistantships, and postdoctoral positions, we train graduate students in myriad home disciplines to become leaders, center directors, and tenure-track professors in the field of Digital Humanities. With generous grant and donor support, CoDHR developed the Humanities Visualization Space, our laboratory, to promote collaborative research among faculty and students. Through software creation, project development, education, and the HVS, we strive to grasp and remain at the cutting edge of research in the era of mass digitization.
