Center for Learning Disabilities

Description

The Center for Learning Disabilities (CLD) is dedicated to supporting individuals with learning disabilities, with a particular focus on dyslexia and related language-based learning differences. The center serves children, adolescents, adults, and college students through a combination of assessment, instruction, research, and outreach, making it a resource not only for the university but also for the surrounding region and the state of Texas. The CLD provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, evidence-based academic interventions, and individualized tutoring services. In addition, it plays a key role in preparing and supporting educators and professionals through training and professional development focused on identifying and addressing learning disabilities. Its work is grounded in research-informed practices that reflect current understanding in the field. Within WTAMU, the Center for Learning Disabilities contributes to student success, strengthens educator preparation programs, and extends the university’s public service mission. Its combination of direct services, research, and professional outreach distinguishes it as one of the few university-based centers in the nation with an exclusive focus on learning disabilities.
